Product Description

Olympus 25mm F1.2 PRO M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED Lens

The Olympus M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 25mm 1:1.2 PRO (35mm equivalent: 50mm) is designed to excel and takes prime lens performance to the limit. An especially fast AF ensures shooting precision in all situations.

This new lens from the flagship M.ZUIKO Pro series provides highest resolution and features exceptional low-light capabilities from the wide 1:1.2 maximum aperture for unrivalled sharpness and clarity right up to all corners of the frame – with jaw-dropping bokeh. And come rain, shine or snow, as with all M.ZUIKO Pro series lenses, the M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 25mm 1:1.2 PRO is dust-, splash- and freezeproof to never let you down – no matter the assignment

Highest image quality
The M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 25mm 1:1.2 PRO incorporates the latest optical technology to deliver highest edge-to-edge resolution results. Together with the exceptionally bright 1:1.2 maximum lens aperture, professional performance is assured in even the most challenging shooting environments. Furthermore, advanced Z Coating Nano guarantees the reduction of ghosting and flaring for even sharper, clearer image perfection.

Magnificent bokeh
Throughout the design process, special attention was given to ensuring this 1:1.2 aperture M.ZUIKO Pro series lens renders the most stunning bokeh to greatly enhance the aesthetic quality of backgrounds – or for using the bokeh effect as the subject itself. The beautiful shapes this lens delivers right up to the edges of the image and the natural defocusing effect result from the combination of the unique optical design of the lens system and its 9- bladed aperture.

Very fast AF, flexibility and professional handling
Often, you only get one chance for that unique shot. That’s why photographers must be able to rely on their equipment to be ready when they are. The M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 25mm 1:1.2 PRO boasts a very fast autofocus system ensuring subjects are frozen in time, in an instant, and in razor sharp splendour – no matter if for a single shot or for shooting sequences in rapid succession. A distinctive construction makes this possible; of all 19 optical elements, only one element has to be moved for focussing, allowing for ultra-fast autofocus.

A construction for stresses and strains
Allowing you to keep shooting when others have to pack up and head home, the M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 25mm 1:1.2 PRO features protection against dust, splashes and sub-zero temperatures – like all lenses in the M.ZUIKO Pro series. The robust, metal-build lens features a maximum magnification of 0.11x (35mm equivalent: 0.22x) and weighs in at 410g.

Built to satisfy professional demands for high-end, high-resolution photography and exceptional bokeh, the extremely bright M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 25mm 1:1.2 PRO delivers on all counts.

Understanding: Aperture

Aperture is the opening in a camera lens that controls how much light enters the camera. It's measured in f-stops like f/2.8 or f/8. Lower f-stop numbers mean wider openings, letting in more light and creating a shallow depth of field (blurry background). Higher f-stop numbers mean smaller openings, letting in less light and creating a larger depth of field (more of the scene in focus). Aperture also affects the quality of out-of-focus areas in the image (bokeh).

Understanding: Lens Types

Different lenses have different purposes to achieve different styles of images, some popular ones include:
Prime Lens: Fixed focal length, sharp images, great for portraits and dark settings.
Zoom Lens: Variable focal length, versatile for different shots and everyday use..
Wide-Angle Lens: Captures wide scenes like landscapes.
Telephoto Lens: Magnifies distant subjects, ideal for sports & wildlife.
Macro Lens: Perfect for close-up photography of small subjects.
Fisheye Lens: Ultra-wide perspective, creates unique images.

Understanding: Lens Mounts

Different camera brands use different lens mounts, which are like connectors that attach lenses to camera bodies. Each mount is specific to a particular brand and camera series. For example, Canon uses the EF and RF mounts, Nikon uses the F mount, Sony uses the E mount for its mirrorless cameras. These mounts dictate which lenses are compatible with which cameras. Some brands offer adapters to use lenses from other systems, but it's essential to ensure compatibility for proper functionality and autofocus performance.

Understanding: Manual and Autofocus

Manual focus and autofocus are two ways to adjust the sharpness of a camera lens. With manual focus, you turn a ring on the lens to bring the subject into focus yourself, giving you full control over what appears sharp in the image. Autofocus, on the other hand, relies on the camera's built-in technology to automatically adjust the focus for you, usually by detecting contrast or phase differences in the scene. Autofocus can be convenient, especially for fast-moving subjects or when you need to capture a quick shot, whereas manual focus allows for precise adjustments and creative control over the final image.
