The new Sky-Watcher EXPLORER-300PDS Newtonian Reflector incorporates the same superb mirror-set as the Explorer-300P but with two significant advantages. A Dual-Speed 10:1 ratio focuser is now included for excellent focusing precision. Also the tube length has been slightly shortened to optimise performance for prime-focus photography.
With an impressive aperture, this telescope offers unparalleled detail for observing deep space objects. As one of Skywatcher's largest Newtonian telescopes, it boasts a 40% increase in light collection compared to a 254mm telescope. This allows for exceptional planetary observations, but truly shines when observing deep space objects. While smaller telescopes may only show galaxy cores, this telescope can reveal intricate spiral structures. It also offers a mesmerizing view of globular clusters, with the ability to resolve countless individual stars across its expansive field of view.
This telescope features a parabolic primary mirror that is diffraction limited and marked at the center for precise adjustment of the optics. Its thin spider vanes and small secondary mirror contribute to excellent contrast and high resolution capabilities, especially when paired with good seeing. Despite being one of the larger telescopes that can be mounted on an equatorial stand, it remains easily transportable. For exact weight specifications, please consult the technical data. Additionally, the 2-inch Crayford focuser provides sturdy support for heavier eyepieces and cameras, while the fine focusing feature allows for pinpoint accuracy. With a fast f/4.9 aperture ratio, this telescope is ideal for astrophotography and offers a wide field of view and shorter exposure times. Additionally, using a coma corrector will ensure sharp images throughout the entire frame.
