Product Description
Sky-Watcher 2" Ultra High Contrast (UHC) Filter - 20197
The Sky-Watcher 2" Ultra High Contrast (UHC) Filter is a highly effective dark-sky nebula filter designed to enhance faint deep-sky targets while reducing the effects of light pollution. Ideal for visual observing with telescopes equipped with a 2" eyepiece holder, it delivers dramatically improved contrast on many popular emission and planetary nebulae.
Bring out detail in faint nebulae
By selectively transmitting key wavelengths of light while blocking much of the background glow, the UHC filter helps reveal subtle structures that are often washed out under suburban skies. It performs particularly well on objects such as:
-
Orion Nebula (M42)
-
Lagoon Nebula (M8)
-
Swan / Omega Nebula (M17)
-
Many other extended emission nebulae
Because the UHC filter allows slightly more light through than stricter O-III filters, it is especially useful on smaller-aperture telescopes, where brightness is at more of a premium.
Narrowband performance
This narrowband UHC filter isolates:
-
The two doubly ionised oxygen (O-III) lines at 496nm and 501nm
-
The Hydrogen-Beta (H-β) line at 486nm
Blocking much of the unwanted artificial light, it increases contrast without overly dimming the target.
Supplied in a protective storage case, the Sky-Watcher 2" Ultra High Contrast Filter is an excellent all-round nebula filter — an ideal addition for observers wanting to see more structure and detail in deep-sky objects from less-than-perfect skies.
