EOS R innovation meets APS-C design
The EOS R7 features an APS-C sized sensor, which allows the lenses to offer 1.6 times more telephoto reach in comparison to an equivalent focal length on a full-frame camera. Therefore, you can capture impactful animal portraits and action shots that fill the frame, making it feel like you are right next to your subject and enabling you to take stunning shots.
Next-generation Auto Focus
The EOS R7 camera is equipped with advanced technology such as deep learning AI and iTR AF, which is also found in the EOS R3, EOS R5 and EOS R6 cameras. With the help of this technology, the camera can easily detect and track people, animals and vehicles, ensuring that they stay in sharp focus no matter where they move within the frame.
Autofocus that defies expectations
Wildlife photographers will love the camera's ability to identify birds in flight and keep them in focus while they soar across the landscape. Sports photographers, on the other hand, will appreciate the camera's ability to track fast-moving and unpredictable subjects, even when they are wearing a helmet, looking elsewhere, or moving upside down.
The Dual Pixel CMOS AF II focusing system of EOS R7 offers extensive coverage and tracking of subjects over almost 100% of the frame. It ensures quick and precise autofocus, even in low light conditions as low as -5EV 2 or with maximum apertures as small as f/22.
Next-level image stabilisation
The In-Body Image Stabilizer (IBIS) in the EOS R7 provides 7 stops of protection from camera shake. This allows you to take long-exposure photos handheld, intentionally blur moving subjects, and capture smooth videos while walking with the camera. With IBIS, you can explore new ways to be creative and rethink how you use your camera system.
Keeping it steady, even when you’re not
The In-Body Image Stabilization (IBIS) of the camera works together with the Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) built into many of our RF lenses. Thanks to the RF mount's high-speed communication and wide physical width, the RF-S 18-150mm F3.5-6.3 IS STM lens can provide up to 7 stops3 of stabilization, while other RF lenses can provide up to 8 stops13 over 5 axes. This allows for steady handheld photography of long exposures without any camera shake.
When shooting with non-IS lenses, the EOS R7's IBIS can still provide highly effective stabilization against camera shake thanks to the wide lens mount in the EOS R system.
In next to no time…
Capturing the perfect photographic moment can be challenging, as it often lasts only for a fraction of a second. However, the EOS R7 camera has been specifically designed to offer exceptional speed and performance. With its ability to capture RAW, JPEG, and HEIF files at an impressive 15fps6, and up to 30fps4 when using the camera's silent electronic shutter7, you can be sure to never miss a moment. The camera also features continuous AF and AE that react instantly to your shooting needs. Additionally, the top electronic shutter speed of 1/16,000 sec lets you capture details that would otherwise be missed by the naked eye.
Built to react fast
The camera's DIGIC X processor ensures a responsive shooting experience with minimal viewfinder lag, capable of capturing up to 42 RAW files and 126 JPEGs in a single 30fps burst.
Fluid motion, captured perfectly on video
When recording video, you can choose frame rates up to 60p in 4K and up to 120p in Full HD, allowing for precise capture of moving objects and smooth slow-motion effects in post-production.
The next chapter in image quality.
Photos and videos that defy expectation
Whether you're capturing photos or videos, the EOS R7's 32.5-megapixel CMOS sensor and DIGIC X image processor produce exceptional results. The technical advancements of the EOS R system combined with our proficiency in optics and sensor design result in unparalleled image quality that surpasses anything you've seen before.
Image quality beyond expectation
Photos are bursting with intricate details, vibrant colors, and an impressive dynamic range, even in low-light conditions, thanks to its maximum sensitivity of ISO 32,000. The camera's oversampling of 7K sensor output allows for the creation of high-quality 4K video footage. Additionally, the Canon Log 3 technology ensures a wide dynamic range, providing flexibility during post-shoot editing.
The next big thing in EOS design
New features, instinctive feel
Discover new creative possibilities with a camera that incorporates the latest technology while retaining the familiar and instinctive feel of a DSLR. The camera's updated design includes features such as a combined AF point selector and rear control wheel, along with classic EOS handling and recognizable menu pages, making it easy to navigate. You'll feel comfortable with the camera right from the outset, allowing you to focus on capturing stunning photos.
The APS-C advantage
The EOS R7 is built around an APS-C sized sensor, so lenses have more telephoto ‘reach’ than the same focal length on a full-frame camera. The smaller sensor format also makes the EOS R7 more portable – great when on wildlife trips, photographing air shows, or capturing the action trackside.
Integrate and expand
Regarding lenses, with the EOS R7, you have the option to use all your existing EF and EF-S lenses by simply attaching the appropriate Canon mount adapter. These lenses will perform just as you remember, if not better, due to the enhanced functionality of the EOS R System. Additionally, you can customize the EOS R7 to suit your specific needs and preferences. The camera features customizable dials and buttons, and you can create custom shooting modes and a programmable My Menu screen.

For details on supported lenses, refer to Supplemental Information of EOS R7 on the website “cam.start.canon”.
During still photo shooting, with an f/1.2 lens, Centre AF point, One-Shot AF, at 23°C/73°F, ISO100. Excluding RF lenses with Defocus Smoothing coating
7-stops based on the CIPA standard with RF-S 18-150mm F3.5-6.3 IS STM at a focal length of 150mm
Continuous shooting speed may be slower depending on subject/shooting conditions or the camera setup or the lens used, etc.. Refer to Advanced User Guide for details. For information on lenses that support the maximum continuous shooting speed with servo AF, refer to Supplemental Information of EOS R7 on the website “cam.start.canon”. Depending on the nature of subject or shooting conditions, rolling shutter image distortion may occur.
The operation of the RF 5.2 mm F 2.8 L DUAL FISHEYE is not guaranteed. Excluding EF-M lenses. Operation of EF Cinema Lens is not guaranteed. Operation of the mount adapter EF-EOS R 0.71 X (sold separately) is not guaranteed.
Applicable when subject frame is shown while tracking and a compatible lens is attached to the camera while the full-range AF is active or the subject is detected successfully in another area mode. For details on supported lenses, refer to [Supplemental Information] for EOS R7 in “cam.start.canon”.
During still photo shooting, with an f/1.2 lens, Centre AF point, One-Shot AF, at 23°C/73°F, ISO100. Excluding RF lenses with Defocus Smoothing coating.
Camera features a manual focus switch therefore MF can be selected on lens/camera Depending on the lens attached. When RF lenses without a focus mode switch are attached manual focus is selected on the camera. When RF/EF lenses with a focus mode switch are attached, the setting on the lens takes precedence, so the setting of the camera’s focus mode switch has no effect.
In High frame Rate Movie mode sound is not recorded
The maximum frame rate during AF, half-press of the shutter button, or continuous shooting is 59.94 fps. Note that the display frame rate may be lower depending on the lens you are using and shooting conditions.
Only available for mechanical shutter. Maximum continuous shooting speed may decrease. High Frequency anti flicker shooting is not supported.
ISO is limited to ISO 200–32000 when [Highlight tone priority] is configured. Expanded ISO speeds cannot be set in HDR mode or for HDR shooting (HDR PQ).
