Canon Camera Store Week is back for 2026, and we’re kicking things off at Carmarthen Cameras with something a little different.
On Monday 14th September 2026, we’re teaming up with Canon UK and Animal Cwtch for a special in-store Macro Photography Event & Canon Touch & Try Day, celebrating the 5th anniversary of Canon Camera Store Week.
Better still, the event is completely free to attend.
Get hands-on with the latest Canon gear
Throughout the day, you’ll have the opportunity to get hands-on with a fantastic selection of Canon cameras, lenses and photographic equipment.
Whether you’re already shooting with Canon, considering making the move to the EOS R system, looking for your next lens or simply want to see what the latest Canon equipment can do, this is your chance to try it for yourself.
We’ll also be joined by Canon expert Peter Taylor, who will be on hand throughout the event to demonstrate the equipment, answer your questions and help you get the most from the Canon system.
There’s no staring at equipment through a glass cabinet here – pick it up, try it out and put it through its paces.
Macro photography with a wild twist
Of course, you need something interesting to point all that camera equipment at…
That’s where Animal Cwtch comes in.
Their team will be joining us with an incredible selection of exotic animals, giving photographers the chance to capture subjects you certainly don’t encounter every day.
Expect snakes, spiders, lizards and more, providing some fantastic opportunities to experiment with macro and close-up photography.
From the intricate textures of reptile scales to the tiny details of spiders and other exotic creatures, there should be no shortage of unusual subjects to photograph.
It’s a brilliant opportunity to experiment with different lenses, focusing techniques, compositions and camera settings – with the Canon team nearby to offer advice and help you get the shot.
Bring your own camera – or try something new
You don’t need to own a Canon camera to take part.
Bring along your own camera and enjoy photographing the animals, or take the opportunity to get hands-on with the Canon equipment available on the day.
Photographers of all experience levels are welcome, whether you’re completely new to macro photography or already have a dedicated close-up setup.
It’s designed to be a relaxed, interactive day where you can photograph, experiment, ask questions and enjoy trying some exciting equipment.
