You can effectively mount a collar-less lens (like an old Elan with Tamron 28-200 shown in this photo), orient the plate under the lens, and use it in a Jobu Design gimbal head. Depending on the lens and camera being used you can certainly balance the rig properly and use it just like any other telephoto lens.
Note, you will not be able to switch to portrait format with this type of setup.

Like all our products, this is made of high quality aluminium with stainless fasteners. It's permanently laser engraved onto extremely hard black anodizing.
