Together, the PEN and compact 14–42mm lens create a highly portable interchangeable-lens camera system.

Individual colours, highlights, shadows, contrast and grain can be adjusted to suit your preferred style. Create vibrant travel photographs, soft cinematic colour, rich portrait tones or characterful black-and-white images—all directly within the camera.

Profiles can also be saved and shared through the OI.Share app, making it easy to discover new looks and maintain a consistent finish across a collection of images.

A 20.4MP Four Thirds Live MOS sensor captures detailed photographs with natural colour and plenty of resolution for printing, cropping and online sharing.

The TruePic IX processor supports responsive operation, advanced autofocus and OM SYSTEM’s extensive computational photography features.

A Supersonic Wave Filter helps remove dust from the sensor whenever the camera starts, reducing the likelihood of visible spots appearing in photographs.

Powerful 5-Axis Image Stabilisation

The PEN’s built-in 5-axis sensor-shift image stabilisation provides up to 5.5 stops of compensation at the centre of the frame.

This is particularly valuable with the included 14–42mm lens, which does not contain its own optical stabilisation. Instead, the camera stabilises the image at every focal length, helping produce sharper handheld photographs in low light and smoother video footage.

It also gives you greater freedom to experiment with slower shutter speeds without immediately reaching for a tripod.

Fast, Intelligent Autofocus

A 121-point all-cross-type phase-detection autofocus system provides fast, dependable focusing across the frame.

AI-powered subject detection recognises people, dogs and cats, helping the camera locate and follow the intended subject. Face and eye detection make portraits and family photographs easier, while continuous autofocus and tracking support moving subjects.

The system lets beginners achieve reliable results quickly while still providing the control experienced photographers expect.

Built-In Electronic Viewfinder

The integrated 2.36-million-dot OLED viewfinder provides a clear, immersive way to compose your photographs.

It remains easy to use in bright daylight and lets you preview exposure, colour profiles and creative effects before taking the picture. You can also compose using the rear screen whenever that better suits the subject or shooting angle.

Vari-Angle Touchscreen

The 3-inch vari-angle touchscreen can be positioned for high, low and front-facing compositions.

Touch focusing and touch-shutter control make the camera quick and intuitive to operate, while the articulated design supports discreet street photography, self-recording, vertical content and unusual creative angles.

Impressive Close-Focusing Performance

The 14–42mm III lens can focus as close as 13cm at its widest setting, making it surprisingly capable when photographing food, flowers and everyday details.

It offers maximum magnification of 0.26× at 14mm and 0.19× at 42mm. On Micro Four Thirds, this provides a full-frame-equivalent magnification of approximately 0.53× and 0.38× respectively.

This close-focusing ability adds another layer of versatility to an already practical everyday zoom.

Computational Photography Made Simple

The dedicated Computational Photography control provides quick access to several advanced creative functions:

• 50MP Handheld High Res Shot: Combines multiple exposures to create a high-resolution image without requiring a tripod

• Live ND: Simulates neutral-density filters up to ND16 for creative motion effects

• Live Composite: Builds long exposures while controlling bright areas, ideal for light trails and night photography

• Focus Stacking: Combines several focus distances for increased depth of field

• Pro Capture: Records frames from before the shutter is fully pressed

• HDR: Combines exposures to preserve highlight and shadow detail

• Starry Sky AF: Simplifies focusing during night-sky photography

Capture Fleeting Moments

The PEN can shoot at up to 30 frames per second using its electronic shutter, with focus and exposure fixed from the first frame.

Pro Capture begins buffering images while the shutter button is half-pressed, then saves frames from immediately before it is pressed fully. This provides a better chance of capturing unpredictable movements from pets, wildlife and children.

An electronic shutter speed of up to 1/32,000 second also provides greater control when photographing in bright conditions.

Creative 4K Video

Record detailed 4K video at up to 30p or Cinema 4K footage at 24p. Vertical recording is available for social content, while dedicated Still, Video and Slow & Quick Motion controls make changing formats straightforward.

OM-Log400 preserves a wider tonal range for colour grading. OM-Cinema1 and OM-Cinema2 profiles provide cinematic looks with less post-production, while the 3.5mm microphone input supports compatible external microphones for improved sound.

Both the OM SYSTEM PEN and the included M.Zuiko 14-42mm III lens offer IPX1-rated splash resistance when used together.

Stay Connected

Built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connect the camera to a compatible smartphone through the OI.Share app.

Photographs can be transferred for quick sharing, while Colour and Monochrome Profiles can be saved and exchanged through the Profile Library. Remote control also makes tripod-mounted photography, group pictures and self-portraits easier.

BLS-7 Battery

The supplied BLS-7 rechargeable lithium-ion battery provides approximately 410 photographs per charge according to CIPA testing.

The battery can be charged inside the camera through USB while the camera is switched off. USB power support also provides additional flexibility during extended photography or video sessions.
