Product Description

Pulsar Merger Duo NXP50 Night Vision Binoculars

The Merger Goes Multispectral

The Merger Duo NXP50 provides users with the detection capabilities of a powerful thermal imaging device and the identification capabilities of a fully-fledged digital night vision device. Plus, with combined viewing mode and Picture-in-Picture, users can even evaluate the terrain around them via the digital night vision channel whilst identifying an observed animal’s anatomical features through the thermal channel.

Unprecedented Thermal Performance

The Merger Duo NXP50 features a highly sensitive 640×480, 17 µm, <30mK NETD, detecting even the smallest heat signature at a range of up to 1800m. This sensor, combined with an extremely powerful 50mm f1.0 germanium objective lens, achieves the stunning thermal optics that have become synonymous with the Pulsar name. The Merger Duo NXP50’s <25mK NETD rating provides exceptional thermal sensitivity, ensuring the image presented is always crystal-clear, regardless of weather and environmental conditions.

Full-HD Digital Night Vision

Using a powerful 1920x1200px CMOS sensor, the Merger Duo NXP50 will achieve a stunning digital night vision image with high-quality detail processing ensuring users can never miss any detail. This night vision channel will effortlessly highlight an observed animal’s silhouette, anatomical features, and behavioural peculiarities, providing greater information in the field and enabling improved decision making.

Advanced Image Processing

Using Pulsar’s proprietary Image Boost image processing algorithms, the Merger Duo NXP50 achieves the highest possible levels of image quality, with stunning detail, clarity, and contrast ensuring every detail is discernible and providing the user with as much information as possible when it matters most. Rendering complex scenes in a wide range of halftones with evenly emitting low-contrast objects — such as the sky, grass, or the reflective surface of a body of water — this software enhances the sharpness and detail of observed objects at different distances, resulting in an exceptionally informative thermal picture.

Furthermore, if a user manually increases the thermal sensor’s sensitivity setting, these intuitive image processing algorithms will significantly improve the quality of its detection capabilities when environmental conditions worse. Plus, a smoothing filter and the Merger Duo NXP50’s wide selection of brightness and contrast settings make for a more comfortable viewing experience over long periods of observation.

IR Illuminator Included

Increasing both the image detail and detection capabilities in the digital channel, the Merger Duo NXP50 is provided with an invisible 940 nm IR illuminator as standard. This IR illuminator can be seamlessly integrated to the underside of the device. Three-step power adjustment allows users to choose their preferred viewing distance and improve the illumination distance when viewing objects or animals in low-light conditions. Plus, the ability to make minute adjustments to the IR illuminator’s spot position adds a greater level of observational control, making it possible to place the highest levels of illumination in desired areas in the FOV.

Up to 10 Hours of Battery Life

Featuring a dual-battery system, this pair of intuitive multispectral binoculars is provided with two rechargeable batteries — one built-in with a capacity of 4 Ah and one replaceable with a capacity of 3.2 Ah. A single charge of the device will guarantee up to 10 hours of effective observation (depending on temperature). Plus, with a unique embossed design to the top of the replaceable battery, changing the battery in complete darkness has become next to effortless.

Power-Saving Proximity Sensor

Improved power-saving is achieved through the inclusion of a built-in proximity sensor. This sensor uses Display Off feature to place the device into standby mode once the binoculars are taken away from the face, prolonging the battery life and ensuring no light leaks from the viewfinder when discretion is required. Raising the device back to the eyes will switch the screen back on near-instantaneously.

User Mode

User mode allows for fine brightness and contrast adjustments to be made, maximising the level of detail and information in user-defined observation conditions. Users can save selected brightness and contrast settings in the Merger Duo NXP50’s internal memory — allowing them to achieve the perfect image the moment they pick the device back up, with no adjustments necessary.

Designed for User Comfort

Featuring a design that will feel at home in the hands of even the most inexperienced outdoorsman, the Merge Duo NXP50 retains the classic aesthetics of a pair of traditional binoculars. Boasting a small form factor, they fit comfortably in the hand and, what’s more, are incredibly lightweight, so users will never experience fatigue — not even during extended periods of observation. Ergonomically designed to ensure the viewing experience is always as comfortable as possible, six function buttons — each programmed with one of the most commonly used digital functions — have been laid out in such as way as to be easily reachable with little-to-no movement.

Adjustable Interpupillary Distance

But the comfort doesn’t stop there. Taking into consideration how natural it is for humans to receive visual information through two channels simultaneously, these binoculars have been designed to reduce the likelihood of eye strain and fatigue over long periods of observation. The inclusion of two viewing channels enables improved detection capabilities when it comes to smaller or faint objects. Plus, with an adjustable interpupillary distance of 62mm-74mm, another layer of comfort is achieved as the user can set these eyepieces apart to match their preference.

Ergonomically Designed Carry Case Included

Pulsar understand the importance of a full range of motion in the field. They also understand that, when not in use, carrying a pair of binoculars in your hands can become cumbersome. For these reasons, an ergonomically designed carry case is included as standard with the Merger Duo NXP50.

With a sleek and stylish design, this carry case allows for quick and easy stowing/removal of the binoculars whilst the optimal belt positioning evenly distributes the weight of the device on the user’s body — relieving the weight from around the shoulders, back, and neck.

The case achieves a snug and comfortable fit to the body without affecting the user’s mobility or range of motion. The case is even provided with additional straps for those who wish to attach it to their waist via a belt, and even comes with equipment for those who need to attach the case to modular MOLLE equipment (such as backpacks and webbed gear).

8 Colour Palettes

Eight selectable colour palettes enable effective observation of the field of view, each of which allow the user to optimise the device for specific scenarios and adapt to changing conditions.

White Hot, Black Hot, and Red Hot are perfect for object detection; Rainbow and Ultramarine will increase recognition and identification capabilities; and Sepia, Red Monochrome, and Violet are best for long, night-time observation.

Robust & Durable Design

The Merger Duo NXP50’s high-quality magnesium alloy housing allows for constant use in harsh conditions. Remaining both light and strong, the bodyshell ensures these binoculars are always comfortable to use, whilst protecting the internal components against shocks, drops, moisture, heat, and cold. This durable housing also acts as a heat sink, effectively dissipating heat produced via internal electronics and increasing the consistency of operation over long periods of observation.

IPX7 Waterproof

An IPX7 waterproof rating adds an extra layer of protection against adverse conditions such as heavy rainfall, snow, and high levels of humidity. The device will remain operational when immersed in up to 1m of water for up to thirty minutes.

Operating Temperatures

Designed to operate perfectly within a wide range of operating temperatures, the Merger Duo NXP50’s housing, power unit, optics, and electronics will remain flawlessly operational in temperatures from -25 to +50°C.

Understanding: Magnification

Understanding magnification, typically denoted by a number followed by an "x" (e.g., 8x42), is essential for choosing binoculars suited to specific activities like birdwatching, hunting, or stargazing.

Higher magnification offers a closer view but may sacrifice field of view and stability, while lower magnification provides a wider field of view and is generally easier to stabilize but sacrifices detailed observation of distant objects

Understanding: Field of View

Field of view refers to the width of the area visible through the binoculars at a specific distance. A wider field of view allows you to observe more of your surroundings, making it ideal for activities like birdwatching or sports events where tracking fast-moving subjects is essential.

Understanding: Objective Lens Diameter

The objective lens diameter determines how much light the binoculars can gather, directly impacting image brightness and clarity, especially in low-light conditions. A larger objective lens diameter results in brighter and clearer images, making it ideal for activities such as stargazing or wildlife observation at dawn or dusk. However, larger objective lenses also mean heavier and bulkier binoculars, which may not be suitable for all users, especially for long periods of use or travel.
