The RICOH GR IV 30th Anniversary Edition draws inspiration from the GR1 film camera introduced in 1996, combining subtle commemorative details with the latest generation of GR technology.

Exclusive exterior touches distinguish the anniversary model from the standard GR IV, including specially coloured controls and shutter release, along with a diamond-cut GN-3 (30th) ring cap. A dedicated anniversary power-off screen and collection of commemorative accessories complete the package.

Newly Developed 18.3mm f/2.8 GR Lens

The GR IV features a newly designed 18.3mm f/2.8 lens, providing the classic 28mm equivalent angle of view associated with the GR series.

Its optical construction uses seven elements arranged in five groups, including three aspherical elements alongside high-refraction and low-dispersion glass. The design is engineered to minimise distortion and chromatic aberration while maintaining excellent contrast and sharpness across the frame.

The result is a versatile fixed focal length ideally suited to street photography, landscapes, travel, documentary work and everyday photography.

25.74MP APS-C Sensor & GR Engine 7

A newly developed back-illuminated APS-C CMOS sensor provides approximately 25.74 megapixels of resolution, paired with the GR Engine 7 image processor and a dedicated accelerator unit.

This imaging system is designed to deliver excellent detail, rich tonal gradation and controlled noise across a broad sensitivity range. Maximum sensitivity extends to ISO 204800, providing greater flexibility when photographing in challenging or low-light conditions.

The camera supports 14-bit RAW files in the universal DNG format, alongside JPEG capture, giving photographers plenty of flexibility for post-production.

5-Axis Shake Reduction

RICOH's sensor-shift Shake Reduction system has been further refined for the GR IV, compensating across five axes for pitch, yaw, roll and horizontal and vertical shift.

The system provides up to six stops of stabilisation in the centre of the frame and four stops towards the edges, measured according to 2024 CIPA standards. This provides greater flexibility when shooting handheld at slower shutter speeds or in lower light.

An AA Filter Simulator also uses the sensor-shift mechanism to help reduce moiré and false colour when required.

Faster Hybrid Autofocus

The GR IV combines phase-detection and contrast-detection autofocus, providing faster and more precise focusing across a wide variety of subjects and lighting conditions.

A redesigned lens barrel, faster sensor readout and optimised operating sequence also contribute to a start-up time of approximately 0.6 seconds – the fastest in GR series history.

Faster operation extends to switching into Macro mode, helping the camera retain the quick, responsive character that has made the GR series particularly popular for spontaneous street and documentary photography.

New Cinema Image Control

The GR IV expands its creative options with a new Cinema Image Control mode, offering yellow- and green-toned variations inspired by cinematic and film aesthetics.

Photographers can customise parameters including saturation, hue, key, contrast and grain, providing extensive control over the finished look directly in-camera. Customised settings can also be saved for quicker access.

A new Snap Distance-Priority AE mode provides another option for photographers who use the GR's snap focusing capabilities, while Program Auto Ex allows quick shifts between aperture- and shutter-priority operation using the camera's control dials.

Pocket-Sized Magnesium-Alloy Body

Portability remains central to the GR IV. The body has been redesigned to provide a slimmer profile while maintaining comfortable handling and quick access to essential controls.

Constructed from lightweight magnesium alloy, the camera combines rigidity with the portability required for genuine everyday carry. A redesigned thumb grip improves security in the hand, while revised controls and dials provide faster access to frequently used settings.

3-Inch LCD Monitor

The rear 3.0-inch LCD monitor offers approximately 1.037 million dots and uses an air-gapless construction, placing a special resin layer between the touch panel and reinforced glass cover.

This helps reduce internal reflections and light dispersion for improved visibility. The Outdoor Monitor Setting can also optimise screen brightness for changing conditions, from bright daylight to darker indoor environments.

GR WORLD Connectivity

Integrated Bluetooth and wireless LAN connectivity allows the GR IV to communicate with compatible smartphones and tablets through the GR WORLD app.

This provides convenient options for transferring photographs, remotely controlling the shutter and adding location information to images using a connected smart device.
