LK Samyang × Schneider-Kreuznach

The Compact Zoom Series was jointly developed by LK Samyang and Schneider-Kreuznach to provide an effective balance between optical performance, portability and everyday usability.

Comprising the 14–24mm, 24–60mm and 60–180mm f/2.8 lenses, the system provides continuous coverage from ultra-wide to telephoto focal lengths with just three compact zooms. It is designed for photographers and filmmakers who want to travel lighter without giving up the creative advantages of a constant f/2.8 aperture.

A Practical 60–180mm Telephoto Range

Rather than following the conventional 70–200mm range, the lens concentrates on focal lengths frequently used for portraits, events and action photography.

At 60mm, it offers natural and balanced framing for environmental portraits, groups and documentary images. At 180mm, it provides tighter framing and stronger telephoto compression, helping subjects stand out clearly against their surroundings.

This flexible range makes it easy to adapt to different shooting distances without repeatedly changing lenses.

Constant F2.8 Aperture

The maximum f/2.8 aperture remains available throughout the entire zoom range, keeping exposure consistent as the composition changes.

Its bright aperture helps maintain faster shutter speeds in poor light and produces a shallow depth of field with smooth, natural background separation. These qualities make the lens particularly valuable for indoor events, wedding receptions, live performances and evening portraits.

Consistent Sharpness from Near to Far

A floating focus system helps maintain consistent image quality across different focusing distances. By adjusting internal optical groups as the focus position changes, the lens minimises the reduction in sharpness that can occur during close-up photography.

This provides stable, predictable results whether photographing nearby details, portraits or distant subjects.

Advanced Optical Construction

The optical design contains 17 elements in 14 groups, including seven Extra-low Dispersion elements, two aspherical elements and one High Refractive element.

These specialist elements help control chromatic aberration, distortion and other optical imperfections. Samyang’s Ultra Multi-Coating also reduces internal reflections, flare and ghosting to preserve contrast and clarity in difficult lighting.

Enhanced Close-Up Capability

At 60mm, the lens provides a minimum focusing distance of 0.35m and a maximum magnification of 0.26×. At 180mm, it focuses as close as 0.79m with a maximum magnification of 0.21×.

This useful close-focusing performance makes the lens suitable for capturing food, products, flowers, textures and tightly framed details. Telephoto compression and the wide aperture help isolate these subjects against softly rendered backgrounds.

Fast and Smooth Autofocus

A Linear STM autofocus motor provides responsive, accurate and quiet focusing for still photography and video.

A dedicated AF/MF switch allows focus modes to be changed quickly, while the smooth focus ring provides precise manual control when required.

Weather-Sealed Construction

Weather sealing helps protect the lens against dust, moisture, light rain and snow, making it suitable for location work in unpredictable conditions.
