Product Description
Sigma FP2 Digital Camera with 50mm F2 DG | Contemporary Lens – Black
The Sigma FP2 with 50mm F2 DG | Contemporary lens combines full-frame image quality, advanced cinema recording and a versatile standard prime lens in a compact, adaptable kit. Featuring a 24.5-megapixel partially stacked CMOS sensor, intelligent subject-detection autofocus and 6K OpenGate recording, the FP2 gives photographers and filmmakers the flexibility to explore both disciplines.
The included black Sigma 50mm F2 DG | Contemporary lens complements the camera’s compact design with a bright F2 aperture, all-metal construction and a dedicated aperture ring. Its classic standard focal length makes this an appealing combination for portraits, street photography, travel and everyday storytelling.
Full-Frame Image Quality with Speed to Match
At the heart of the Sigma FP2 is a 24.5MP full-frame partially stacked CMOS sensor, delivering fine detail, rich colour and smooth tonal gradation. From carefully composed landscapes to spontaneous portraits, it provides the flexibility to capture subtle textures and work with challenging lighting.
The sensor’s high-speed readout helps reduce rolling shutter distortion and supports continuous shooting at up to 20 frames per second. Capture bursts of up to 200 JPEGs or 180 DNG RAW images at this speed, giving you more opportunities to catch fleeting expressions and fast-moving subjects.
For greater control when editing, the FP2 records 14-bit losslessly compressed DNG RAW files, with simultaneous RAW and JPEG recording also available.
A Versatile 50mm F2 Prime Lens Included
The included Sigma 50mm F2 DG | Contemporary provides a natural standard perspective that suits a wide range of subjects. Frame environmental portraits, pick out details on your travels or capture everyday scenes with a compact prime lens that encourages thoughtful composition.
Its bright F2 maximum aperture gives you greater flexibility in low light and allows a shallow depth of field to separate your subject from the background. A nine-blade rounded diaphragm helps produce smooth out-of-focus highlights.
The lens combines 11 elements in nine groups, including one SLD and three aspherical elements, to deliver high optical performance in a compact design. Its 45cm minimum focusing distance also lets you move closer for photographs of smaller subjects and details.
Premium Construction with Hands-On Control
Part of Sigma’s I series, the 50mm F2 DG | Contemporary features an all-metal construction and a dedicated aperture ring for direct control over exposure and depth of field.
The L-Mount lens weighs approximately 350g and measures 70 × 68mm, making it a compact partner for the FP2. High-speed, accurate autofocus supports everyday shooting, while the supplied metal lens hood and magnetic metal lens cap complement its practical design.
Intelligent Autofocus for People, Pets and Wildlife
The FP2 combines image-plane phase-detection and contrast-detection autofocus for responsive, accurate focusing. Single AF, Continuous AF and Tracking AF let you tailor the camera to your subject, with manual focus available whenever you want direct control.
Subject recognition identifies people, dogs, cats and birds, while Eye AF helps maintain focus on the most important part of your subject. Improved autofocus speed, accuracy and low-light performance support photography across changing shooting conditions.
For manual focusing, focus peaking and magnification make it easier to assess critical sharpness, particularly when using the included lens at wider apertures.
Explore Sigma’s Distinctive Colour Modes
Shape the look of your photographs with 13 colour modes, accessed through the dedicated Colour button. Developed using Sigma’s colour science, these presets provide a straightforward way to change the atmosphere of your images in camera.
Choose Standard for natural rendering, explore the softer character of Powder Blue, add warmth with Warm Gold, or experiment with Teal and Orange. Further options include Rich, Calm, Forest Green, Sunset Red, Cinema and Monochrome, alongside FOV Classic Blue and FOV Classic Yellow.
Comfortable Composition from More Angles
The 3.15-inch touchscreen offers approximately 2.1 million dots and tilts 90° upwards and 45° downwards. Compose from low viewpoints, shoot above head height or work at waist level with a clear view of the screen.
For photographers who prefer a viewfinder, the optional EVF-21 Electronic Viewfinder connects through a single USB-C port. Its high-resolution OLED display and upward-tilting design offer an alternative way to compose.
The camera’s dust- and splash-resistant construction provides reassurance when shooting outdoors, although the FP2 is not waterproof.
A Dedicated Cinema Camera at the Flip of a Switch
A top-mounted STILL/CINE switch instantly changes the FP2 between photography and filmmaking. Each mode has its own interface and functions, keeping the controls relevant to the way you are working.
The compact camera and 50mm lens combination provides a portable starting point for filmmaking, from travel projects and interviews to documentary footage. Expand the setup with additional lenses, audio equipment and production accessories as your requirements develop.
6K OpenGate Recording for Flexible Framing
Record 6K OpenGate video using the full sensor area, giving you more freedom to adapt footage to different aspect ratios. A single recording provides greater flexibility when creating widescreen video, vertical social content and alternative crops.
The FP2 supports 6K recording at up to 59.94fps, alongside 4K at up to 59.94fps and 4K at up to 119.88fps in crop mode. For RAW workflows, ProRes RAW and ProRes RAW HQ support recording up to 6K 29.97fps.
Electronic image stabilisation is available for video with supported recording settings, helping steady handheld footage. It is unavailable during 6K recording.
Greater Control over Exposure and Colour
With up to 14.1 stops of dynamic range when recording 4K full-frame L-Log, the FP2 captures a broad range of tones for flexible grading. Its highlight headroom helps retain detail in brighter areas when filming high-contrast scenes.
Support for Leica L-Log, alongside ProRes RAW, H.264 and H.265 recording options, allows you to choose a workflow that suits your production and editing requirements.
Built-in exposure tools include waveform monitoring, histograms, zebra patterns and false colour, helping you assess brightness and make informed exposure decisions while filming.
Advanced Audio and Production Tools
The FP2 supports 32-bit float audio recording with the required optional accessories, offering greater flexibility when recording quiet sounds and sudden changes in volume. This capability requires the HU-21 hot shoe unit and Panasonic DMW-XLR2 and DMW-DMS1, as specified by Sigma.
A built-in stereo microphone, 3.5mm external microphone input and USB audio support provide further recording options.
The Director’s Viewfinder function simulates the framing of supported cinema cameras from ARRI, Sony and RED, helping with location scouting and shot planning. Anamorphic desqueeze display options also support composition with compatible anamorphic lenses.
Internal Storage and Practical Connectivity
Alongside its UHS-II SDXC card slot, the FP2 includes approximately 70GB of high-speed internal storage. This provides useful additional capacity and allows recording to continue when the memory card becomes full.
Compatible portable SSDs connect through USB 3.2, offering another storage option for demanding recording workflows.
Two USB-C ports support functions including accessories, charging, power delivery and data connections. A full-size HDMI Type-A connection and shared 3.5mm microphone/timecode input add flexibility for production use.
The supplied BP-91 battery delivers approximately 370 still images or 130 minutes of video recording, with actual endurance depending on settings and use. USB Power Delivery provides an additional power option for longer sessions.
An Adaptable System for Photography and Film
The included 50mm F2 lens gives you a versatile starting point, while the camera’s L-Mount allows you to explore other compatible lenses as your interests develop.
Standard ¼-inch mounting points on the sides and base support a wide range of Sigma and third-party accessories. Add an optional hand grip, electronic viewfinder or hot shoe unit, or build a larger filmmaking setup with compatible production equipment.
